Jonas, 10th Grade

This past summer Jonas, a sophomore at Match High School, participated in MS Squared, a 5 week STEM program at Phillips Andover. MS squared is an overnight summer program, with a multi-year commitment. This was Jonas’s first summer at MS Squared and he stated that “while it’s focused on STEM, there were a lot of things they offer”. He mentioned that his day-to-day activities consisted of Algebra II, Biology, English, and an elective; which for him was Sports Medicine. He highlighted how the classes help to prepare students for the next school year.

Jonas found out about this program from his college counselor who sent out an email highlighting how it was a STEM program. Jonas said, “I was already interested in STEM, and saw it as an opportunity to learn more about it and do something that would help me in the future”.

One of the favorite part of his day, at the program, was the free period. During this time, he hung out with friends at the outdoor tents, went to Downtown, or played games on the football field. This experience has reinforced Jonas’ interest in STEM. He is so passionate about this field of studies and wants to continue exploring it.
